Ekrem Özgür, the chairman of board of Arşa Gold, gave response to our questions about the gold market. Özgür mentioned about the mint strike that all jewelry market complain of; he expressed due to the mint problem, jewellery is also in trouble and labour became high.
What do you think about the banks' gold sales?
Certainly, we are against this condition. This implementation is also against the people. Banks make a big profit via gaining remarkable markup between gold sale and buying. People are damaged of this situation. But recently, people have become aware of this matter and begun returning to us.
What do you recommend gold buyers?
They should buy gold for long- term investment. If we compare, buying bracelet now is sensible. But they shouldn't deal in deficit. Buying gold by instalment or credit cards will cause them lose money.
