This year, the event will be hosted by actor and theatre artist Hakan Bilgin. 		    <content:encoded><![CDATA[My name is Fehmi Gerçeker  I am from İstanbul, but I have been in New York City long time.
I studied and I got master’s degree  in television and cinema in New York  City University, after that I started to do some film productions in United States and I have been produced ad directed30 25 around   documentary films.  These are mostly international  films and I shot those almost in 29 countries at the World .
Recently I have been in İstanbul and I am producing  some documentary films for American and European distribution .
I was in Moroco abaout 6 months ago and I was very surprised  that I didn’t know that much about Morocco. I love the country and I stayed there enough time to understand some of the beauties over there, and I was very interested with a city Essaouira. It is on the shore of Atlantic Ocean.  I learned  that Orson Wells  shot the film of Othello over there. Also many very famous international wellknown artists, and musicians love the city.. They loved that area.
So I decided to do a  documentary film about that town.  I started to do some research on that city. As you know, in our documentary World, the most important part of the production is pre-production to do research and understand what we are presenting in our film.
I started to research on that area with my production team.  I contacted with Consulate of Istanbul of Royal Monaco and also I met with a very important businessman who is the director of Maracon and Turkey Business Association. We are planning to do the first shooting in the beginning of August in Morocco, then we will be planning to shoot the film the end of this year maybe October or September,
Culture wise there are similarities between Morocco and Turkey.  Morocco has tramendous culture and historical background It's the same for Turkey.
Turkey and Morocco several times got together in the history. Both of them are the bridge of many countries. As we know Ottoman Empire bridge of Europe and Asia in many years. Morocco has the same situation it is the bridge of The New World and  Europe, We try to bring out these historical values of  in our film.

The Jewelry Exporters' Association announced an important step in the gold trade following discussions with Cargo Customs and Passenger Hall Customs Directorates in recent weeks. It was decided to procure advanced devices that can instantly determine the gold's purity at customs, following meetings with Deputy Minister of Trade Sezai Uçarmak.
These revolutionary devices, provided by the Jewelry Exporters' Association and valued at €30,000-35,000 each, will offer significant ease for gold exporters by speeding up processes and minimizing time loss in the sector.
Great Ease in Customs Processes
In traditional processes, exporters had to send their products to the mint and assay offices. However, with the new regulations, only 2 out of 10 shipments will need to be sent to the mint. This will significantly accelerate procedures and free exporters from weeks of operational delays. The processes, which currently take about a week to ten days, are expected to be shortened.
Boosting Our Competitiveness in International Trade
The new devices to be used in customs will not only increase trust in the gold trade but also reinforce Turkey's competitive strength on the international stage. With the improvement in technological infrastructure, the challenges faced by gold exporters in trade processes will be significantly reduced.
Burak YAKIN, Chairman of the Jewelry Exporters' Association, stated, "Thanks to this innovation, efficiency in the gold trade will increase, our exporters' products will be processed quickly, and our competitiveness in the international market will rise further," emphasizing that this is a major development for the sector.

With the introduction of these new devices, significant advantages in both cost and time are expected for exporters. This revolutionary step for jewelry exporters will further strengthen Turkey's leading position in jewelry export.
Sector representatives agree that this technological advancement will speed up jewelry trade and bring great benefits to exporters.

			<title><![CDATA[Fastiad opens new perspectives to companies trading with Morocco and Africa]]></title>

		    <content:encoded><![CDATA[Dear Friends of FASTİAD,

The Fas and African Industrialists and Businessmen Association (FASTİAD) is a business association established in 2015, serving as the new bridge between the enchanting country of Morocco, Africa, and Turkey. Our association was founded with the participation of Moroccan, African, and Turkish members. I must admit that I was truly surprised by the overwhelming demand for membership that followed immediately after the establishment phase. Once again, I witnessed the appropriateness of our decision to embark on this association. Our association, with its headquarters located in Istanbul, has chosen the district of Fatih as its central office, which can be defined as an important cultural and commercial hub.

In response to the high demand from our friends in Morocco, we have recently opened two representations in the country, specifically in Casablanca and Rabat. The main purpose of these establishments is to direct companies that have not yet ventured into Morocco, who have not considered selling their products there, towards the country. We aim to open new perspectives for companies engaged in trade with Morocco and Africa, revitalize commercial transactions among firms, address any potential issues on-site and in a timely manner, explore new markets, and inform our members about government support in this regard.

We wanted "EXPORT" to be a magical word for our members. We aimed for them to be able to sell their products or services anywhere in the world. We wanted to be alongside the businesspeople who turn our national brands into global ones. Our slogan is to connect Europe, Asia, and Africa through the commercial unity of Morocco and Turkey, just like a bridge, as reflected in the name of our magazine. We aimed to create a connection to announce collaboration offers from Turkey and Morocco to our members. We wanted to organize our Moroccan, African, and Turkish businessmen in delegations to foster new partnerships.

We aimed to showcase our country and the progress we have achieved in trade by hosting businesspeople, government officials, and representatives from abroad, especially from Morocco and Africa, in our country and region. Moreover, we wanted to emphasize the hospitality of the Turkish people and entrepreneurs. Instead of leaving everything to the executives, both as individuals and members, we have pondered on how we can take these commercial relationships to higher goals. We will work on exploring what we can do within our roles as businesspeople to advance these relationships.

We wholeheartedly believe that there is no product that cannot be produced for the Turkish people and entrepreneurs, and likewise, there is no country where exports cannot be made. New products and new markets will always be our targets. With these sentiments and thoughts in mind, we have chosen the motto "I want to sell products made in Turkey to Morocco, Africa, and products made in Morocco, Africa in Turkey" as the cover theme for our first issue. We attach great importance to this motto.

We see exports as a solution to the current account deficit issue, especially for both brother countries (Turkey and Morocco) and other African nations. We believe that exports will contribute to the formation of global brands, and we anticipate that it will lead to strategic development in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and textiles. In conclusion, we firmly believe that the strong companies of Morocco, Africa, and Turkey can achieve their goals through a robust foreign trade strategy.

We are honored and delighted to be with you, our valued readers, in this inaugural issue. With your contributions and feedback, we hope to achieve many more successful endeavors together. On behalf of our association and the board of directors, we extend our respect and gratitude to our fellow members and friends who have contributed to this publication. We wish you health, prosperity, and days filled with fruitful gains.

New prototype coins inspired by UAE’s achievements over the past 50 years

-DMCC signs agreement with Czech Mint to supply and distribute gold and silver bullion coins, as announced at the Dubai Precious Metals Conference 2022
-Partnership marks DMCC’s efforts to facilitate the global gold and precious metals trade
-Coins available for purchase after Ramadan


DMCC has unveiled prototypes of a new series of gold and silver bullion coins that celebrate the achievements of the UAE over the last 50 years. The coins will be made available for purchase after Ramadan.
Announced at the 2022 edition of the Dubai Precious Metals Conference (DPMC), the coins are the result of a partnership with Czech Mint, the official supplier of currency coins to the Czech Republic’s central bank. The agreement was signed by Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, and Mr Michal Drtina, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Czech Mint.

 




Representing the success of the UAE, the new prototype bullion coins feature a range of designs including the image of HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the Louvre Abu Dhabi to reflect the UAE’s standing as a major global cultural destination.
This unveiling marks DMCC’s role to support the gold and precious metals trade landscape globally, which will build up throughout the year and culminate in DMCC’s annual Dubai Precious Metals Conference later this year. As one of the global precious metals industry’s must-attend events, the DPMC seeks to seize opportunities and tackle the challenges faced by the sector.


DMCC will be looking to mint previous editions of its popular gold coins with Czech Mint.
Throughout 2022, DMCC bolstered its facilitation of the wider gold ecosystem: DMCC’s Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX) signed an MoU with FinMet to expand DGCX’s gold product offering and market participation by providing facilities for bullion traders to raise short-term funds with new gold contracts; DMCC signed agreements with Comtech Gold and SafeGold to offer physical gold-backed digital assets to positively disrupt the USD 20 billion gold industry in the Middle East; and, alongside supporting the second edition of the Jewellery Gem and Technology (JGT) Dubai B2B trade show, DMCC also hosted a range of high level delegations from key gold markets including the UK’s Royal Mint and multiple African nations, with all conversations revolving around advancing the trade of precious metals globally.

With the decreasing of gold and ounce, the market launched to brisk, especially in jewelry, gram gold and bracelet, the business goes well. Due tothe decisions of Federal Reserve Banks, ounce decreased considerably. Dollar is at a premium a bit now... Stock exchange values are low.
 
 

We are in good working order hanks Allah. This week went well. If Allah permits, it will be enduring. But as craftsmen, we don't subscribe to decreasing of gold. Customers aren't expected to alienate from gold. We consider them not to be in loss. But it is beyond our power. World markets work in this way.

 
We have some customers buying gold with high price and having loss. We worry for them but the things go in this way. We aren't affected. Our works increase.
If customers buy gold with the aim of saving, we recommend them to buy gram gold or bracelet. When they buy with the aim of accessory, they do not consider of the price. For instance, the customer of diamond doesn't ash the price of diamond. If she likes, she buys. But the others buying with the aim of saving, follow the market better than us. They make an invest in a best way after they follow the economical news from televisions, internet, the news channels on internet. Being a new place, Jewelry City is not known much but shop workers take place there. A project prepared to place all the workshops there, surely, it will be filled up in time but now, it seems as production place. So far, it cannot be the centre of gold.
Certainly, it has some reasons of being so. The reasons are lack of its promotion, a website including two or three different languages, and an advisor.. Whereas there are many blocs but their lack of promotion is a great deficiancy.. Due to this kind of defects, people don't know here. When Jewelry City is promoted, people from abroad or inland will know there... Maybe, it will become a busy place like Grand Bazaar. Surely, promotion is so important for this... Immediately, a website including at least four languages , Turkish, English, Arabic and Russian, is provided.
 
 

 
For instance, the people in Grand Bazaar do not go there. Why? Because it is in a far area from the Grand Bazaar, there is a bus in each half an hour, and people are not aware of this. People don't want to go there much. Also traffic is a great trouble that they arrive there in one and half an hour. All of them including return make three hours on the way is not an easy task in terms of business, it is rather big problem... So there are some disadvantages.” said Şabo Boyacı and ended his words as: " I hope municipality tries to solve this public transportation trouble, I don't know. If transportation takes one and half an hour time, there is a problem somewhere. The management of Jewelry City must get to grips with this problem immediately. "Due to being a distinguished and reliable family, we took step into the jewelry sector and we are here with the help of this confidence. We have kept going in this profession with the support of our friends and customers since we founded the firm, althogh we had difficulties on account of the low gold prices and then the high prices on the base of TL after 2005, time brought us in this position by putting our feet down.” he said.
 
" Jewelery is an elite and honorable profession. We are trying to go above and beyond this task. The sector haven't lost its activity as most of our people invest in gold. In Düziçi, even the villagers invest so much in gold. The interest is great especially in quarter, half and all republic golds named as ismet liras.”said Olcay, due to low salaries, left over special design golds, low-labour cost golds catch interest and the reason for this is people think of gold as a means of investment and they run to the gold with low-lost at the time of sale.

Olcay said the jewelery is mostly retailer sale in Düziçi, and this causes the jewelers present low- profitable products on frame.
 
Olcay continued his speech: "In our district, couples desiring for marry wish gold in 3 phase. Different kinds of gold is bought in commitment, engagement and wedding. During commitment groom's family buy engagement ring, earrings, watch and if they have opportunity a couple of bracelet. Brides's family buy ring, watch or wristband for groom. Groom's family spend between1500- 2000 TL, bride's family spend between 500- 700TL. For engagement, groom's family buy a set and bracelet appropriate for their budget(expense around 8- 10 billion TL) for bride , bride's family buy wristband for groom and bracelet for bride (expense around 4-5 billion TL). For wedding, groom's family's expense is a ring and to make the bride get off the wedding car a bracelet bought by groom's mother and father. It's amount is around 2000 to 3000 TL.”
 
Except wedding after harvesting time, it is invested on gold, said Olcay and this time starts after May and continues till the end of the year. Except for this, gold is bought on the special days Mother's Day, Valentina's Day and wedding anniversary even it's not too much.
 
Olcay said that the jewelers in Düziçi mostly do business with Adana, Kahramanmaraş and Gaziantep. " We provide varieties of bracelet from the jewelers in Adana, varieties like ring, earring and wedding ring from the retailers from Kahramanmaraş and Gaziantep. We haven't trade with Grand Bazaar. It is about the handicaps transportation, safety and matter of time. Provenance of the Archduke Joseph Diamond
 
Although it is not known exactly when the diamond entered the House of Habsburg, it has been officially recorded as the property of the Archduke Joseph August of Austria, Palatine of Hungary (1872-1962), and was subsequently named after him. As the first son of Archduke Joseph Carl of Austria (1833-1905) and Princess Clothilde of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1846-1927), Archduke Joseph August Viktor Klemens Maria was born in Alcsùt (Hungary), on 9 November 1872. He was the great grandson of Emperor Leopold II through his father and the great grandson of King Louis Philippe of France through his mother.
 
In 1893, he married Princess Augusta of Bavaria, the granddaughter of Empress Elisabeth of Austria and Emperor Franz Joseph. He began a distinguished military career in 1890 and attained the rank of Field Marshal of the Austro-Hungarian Army in 1918 and was later named first Regent of Hungary. At the end of World War II, when Hungary was occupied by the Soviet Union, he emigrated for a few years to America but later returned to Germany where he died in 1962.
 
It is believed that the Archduke passed on the diamond to his son, the Archduke Joseph Francis (1895-1957), as records show that he deposited it in the vault of the Hungarian General Credit Bank on 1 June 1933. The diamond was sold three years later to an anonymous buyer who left it in a safe during World War II, fortunately escaping the attention of the Nazis. After decades of mystery, the diamond re-appeared on 22 June 1961 at auction in London, and was finally re-offered for sale in November 1993 at Christie’s Geneva. Slightly recut to 76.02 carats, the diamond is now Internally Flawless in clarity, and exhibits the characteristic limpid transparency for which Golconda diamonds are so celebrated.

It is comparable in its noble lineage and superb quality to the legendary Koh-i-Noor diamond that forms part of the crown jewels of Great Britain.”

			<title><![CDATA[Erhan Hoşhanlı elected for the Chairmanship of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Jewelry Commitee]]></title>

		    <content:encoded><![CDATA[Erhan Hoşhanlı, being elected for the membership of assebly and the chairmanship of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Jewelry Committee, evaluated the 22 May elections in the explanations he made to Habergold.com.
 
As in the most sectors, we have legal and market troubles caused by the deficiency of law, blockages due to commercial circumstances in our sector. The most important of all, as legal troubles, is about the special consumption tax of %20 for importation of precious stones... We have a trouble about both facing the unfair rivalry of international fund and due to this kind of high taxation, our sector is pushed into unrecordednes and institutionalization is blocked and kept back.
 
So we hope this trouble,seemed the most important for us, to be solved immediately with the implicit approval of government. It is the most important problem for us. Apart form that in our sector, the second important problem is " training of educated intermediate staff”.
 
Who is Erhan Hoşhanlı?
We started our career in 1976 and carry on for 37 years. We started our family business from apprenticeship. We had manifacturing dimension in Malatya. We took part in the international fairs.
 
We began trading in Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. After a while, we had a business firm of retail, importation and exportation. In America, we started trading in 2008. We opened an office there. We founded a marketing team including all states of America. We carry out our activities as jewelry there.
 
We were head of commitee of chamber of trade in about 2000 in Istanbul Chamber of Trade. Afterwards, we carried on as member of assembly. Now, we have the mission of the head of commitee and membership of assebly as sector in the last elections carried out in 22 May.
 
We spent first 18-20 years of 37 years our career life in Malatya. Later on we have avtivities in Istanbul. We started with Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, then we came jewelry city. We have been here in jewelry city...
 
We started jewelry as family business. I have been in this sector since I was 6. We have been in jewelry sector for 50 years. In the period I was in Malatya, I carried out the head of Malatya Chamber of Jewelry twice. In the period of my headship in Malatya, we struggle with the second edition jewelry that was in existence in the market in that term, and struggling with the low carat gold. We started some labour to restrain the activities of sinister people. And really we had influences around Turkey. We set an example for the other cities with our activities.
 
When I came Istanbul, I saw there was an indifference in the foundations of the sector. People generally have the understanding as we have a representative, and so we don't have to do something.
 
We have activities to increase the interest for our foundations, to increase the susceptibility of first chamber of jewelry, then the Istanbul chamber of commerce, with our counterparts together.]]></content:encoded>

Also, Dolmacı gave informations about the future of the sector; " We have elections bi yearly. The bazaar is nice but since the gold prices don't decrease, we have a bit slack business. I think the reason of this slacknes, the rumours about the exporting from Iran again; if it is so, the gold prices will increase again. The agreement has been managed with Greece, the agreement of"IMG” may be affected. We perform our best as an association of Konya. There is a team consisting of 7 association responsibles, we service best with this responsibles. We collect reports from the artisans each month. We always follow the market of Konya.” he said.
 

"Moreover, more people come Konya to sell gold than the other cities. Before we analyze the samples and then we let them come out. Generally, Konya people are fond of 24 and 14 carats gold. 8 carats gold is not preferred much. But it is preferred in İstanbul and İzmir. Every firm promoted but Konya people don't prefer low carats gold. The quick effect of the global crisis is always on gold market. Now, securing the value of gold is only by Middle East countries. Smuggled gold coming from east is not concern of Konya. Before Konya, come other developed cities. I took participate in a fair in Gaziantep in east but I have never heard of this matter. We know smuggled golds come from Syria but they are not embroidered. We guess they come as gold bullions.” saying the chamber of the Association of Jewelry of Konya Mustafa Dolmacı went on his words; "The labour of Kahramanmaraş is leading but Konya will make a name for this way. As of now, we have 17 workshops. The workshops in Konya work on bracelet and wedding-ring. Although as association we attempted, there was no demand and the sector of Konya don't give importance to exporting, they only put emphasis on domestic market.
 
Exporting is achieved better in Jewelry City in İstanbul and Kahramanmaraş. Jewellery City of Konya is sufficient for Konya people. But, gold firm coming as enterprising can survive. Firms come from İzmir and Ankara. Konya, as industrial sector, competes against Turkey and even the whole world. I believe such development will happen in time. Also, we lose our works due to the stimulations of the banks. The only matter jewelleries are expected to care is the carats of gold.
 
As we get our business moving, pos machine came out and troubled us seriously. The most important thing is banks' taking scrap gold, that they take and pay with "TL”. We only wish everybody run their own business. We earn money from scrap golds as jewelleries. Banks have gold days as women. Golds are already not given as present in weddings. Gold account is opened in the name of bride and groom and the account card is given to them. This situation makes the end of the artisans. Though it seems as an advantage in terms of customers, they will end the artisans 10 years later.” he said.]]></content:encoded>
